Edmund Law (March 2, 1818 – March 26, 1867) was the eldest son of William John Law. He received his early education at Westminster School before entering Trinity College, Cambridge, on January 24, 1835. During his time at Cambridge, where he matriculated in October 1835, he achieved notable academic success by completing both the Mathematical and Classical Triposes, earning his BA in 1840 and later his MA in 1843, alongside being named a Scholar in 1839.
Beyond his formal university studies, Law was a member of the Cambridge Apostles, the prestigious intellectual and conversational society. Following his graduation, he pursued a legal career, gaining admission to the Inner Temple on June 3, 1843, and subsequently being called to the Bar on June 5, 1846, to practice as a barrister.
In his personal life, Law married Frederica, the fifth daughter of the Hon. Charles Ewan Law, in 1848, and he is believed to be the father of Henry T. Law, born in 1874. He passed away on March 26, 1867, and was laid to rest in West Highgate Cemetery, located in the London Borough of Camden, Greater London.
